President’s Message

Dear Singapore Telugu Samajam members and friends, my heart full greetings and wishes on the eve of Andhrapradesh formation day.

It is very unfortunate that we have lost our great leader, Dr. Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy who played a vital role in our state politics and development. We can never forget his charming smile and great attitude which earned him millions of admirers.  I pray to Gods to keep his soul in peace.

The other disaster our state has witnessed last month was the floods. The catastrophic incident made thousands of people homeless in Kurnool, Mahaboob Nagar, Guntur and Krishna districts.  Though we can not bring those lives back, we can help in our own way to bring them back to normalcy. Accordingly, Singapore Telugu Samajam has set up flood donation fund and I appeal to every Telugu individual in Singapore to contribute for the greater cause. The committee has decided that the funds raised will be used to construct a permanent structure in one of those villages.

Let me share with you hat our own journal Sumanjali is celebrating its first anniversary on the eve of Andhrpradesh formation day November 1st 2009. I look forward to all of you for your extended support and let our Sumanjali celebrate several anniversaries. It gives me immense pleasure to inform you that our committee has brought over 20 successful programs in various occasions and reaches different sects of Telugu people in Singapore. This is a tremendous achievement as it was never done before in the history of Singapore Telugu Samajam. This would not have been happened with all your support and co-operation.

Our committee has introduced “Telugu Badi” program to encourage our kids to learn our mother tongue. The first batch started in July had 25 people and it is a great response indeed. I take this opportunity to request you all to encourage your kids to join Telugu Badi.

Apart from the cultural and sporting activities, social responsible programs like “blood donation” and “Narayana mission Charity Activity” were undertaken by Singapore Telugu Samajam and the successful programs were lauded by everyone. I would like to request you to participate in our next blood donation program scheduled in January 2010.

On the occasion of Deepavali and Dasara on October 10th 2009 we have organised “Indhradhanassu” which witnessed thousand over enthusiastic participants. I thank everyone through Sumanjali who contributed for the success of this program and look forward to your support in all our future endeavours.

I promise to you that we will bring to you more quality programs in future with your support.

Regards

Arimilli Radha Krishna

President
